Quick answers to the most common questions about PicZFlip.
How accurate is the AI identification?
+
PicZFlip uses Claude (Anthropic) for vision identification — the same AI powering serious research tools. Accuracy depends on photo quality: clear, well-lit shots get the best results. Brand names, model numbers, and visible labels dramatically improve precision. We show you the photo quality score so you know when to retake.
What's a flip score?
+
The flip score (0–10) is our AI-generated profitability rating. It factors in: how reliably the item sells, how wide the resale margin is, how easy it is to ship, and how active the market is. A 7+ means this is a solid flipping candidate. A 4–6 means it could work but needs the right buyer. Below 4 means low resale demand.
Where does the value estimate come from?
+
PicZFlip pulls recent sold prices from eBay for the same or similar items, then calculates a low–high range based on condition and listing completeness. The range accounts for the fact that some items sell for $15 and others for $50 — we show you the realistic window, not a fluke outlier.
Can I use PicZFlip at estate sales?
+
Absolutely — estate sales are one of the best flipping environments. Estate sale pricing is typically 30–70% below market value, so the margins are huge if you can identify what’s valuable. Bring good lighting if indoors. Scan before you commit to buying.
Can I use PicZFlip at garage sales?
+
Yes. Garage sales are dominated by sellers who don’t know resale value — which means opportunity. You’ll find vintage toys, labeled clothing, old electronics, and more at prices far below what they’ll sell for on eBay. Scan items before negotiating.
Can I use PicZFlip at flea markets?
+
Yes, though photo quality can be tricky with large crowds and outdoor lighting. Get close to the item, block out competing items from the frame, and use good natural light where possible. Works best for clothing, watches, collectibles, and small electronics.
Is my scan data private?
+
Your scans are private to you. We use your scan history to power the dashboard and scan history features. We may use anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., "Northeast region scanned 1,400 vintage Pyrex pieces last month") for product analytics. We will never sell your personal scan data or share it with third parties.
How do I cancel my subscription?
+
Log in and go to your Profile page. You’ll see your current plan and a cancel option. Cancelling stops future billing at the end of your current billing period. Your scans and history remain accessible — we don’t delete data when you downgrade.
What's included in the free tier?
+
Free users get 5 scans per day and 3 lifetime scans as a guest before signing up. Authenticated free accounts get 5 scans/day with history tracking. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited scans, priority processing, and advanced analytics.
How do I list an item after scanning it?
+
After a scan, tap "Create Listing" to generate a full eBay/Facebook Marketplace listing copy — title, description, condition notes, and suggested pricing. Copy it directly to your marketplace of choice. You can also share the scan result via a link to show buyers exactly what you found.
Why did my scan fail?
+
Common causes: (1) Poor lighting — too dark or harsh glare. (2) Camera too far from item — get close. (3) Too many items in frame — isolate the piece. (4) Network issue — check connection. We show a photo quality score after every scan to help you improve. Retakes are free.
Does PicZFlip work offline?
+
Core identification requires an internet connection. However, if you’ve previously loaded the app and have PWA installed, we can cache your recent scans so you can review results offline. New scans still need connectivity.
